The PGA International Golf Institute (PGA IGI) was recently recognised by the Australian Council for Private Education and Training in its annual Awards for Excellence in Adelaide. The awards recognise the outstanding contribution made by individuals and organisations in private education and training in the tertiary sector, as well as outstanding industry initiatives.

A wholly owned subsidiary of the PGA, the PGA IGI offers education through its combined curriculum of golf and business courses as well as practical golf skills to prepare students for a career in the golf industry. PGA IGI was recognised as an outstanding applicant in the International Education Provider of the Year category and received a very rare Encouragement Award. The PGA IGI Executive Officer Dominic O’Brien said “it’s great to achieve an education award in its own right and to be recognised for the hard work our team puts in within the education sector, it shows that we are on the right track and we look forward to going one step further next year”.

The General Manager of Member Services Gavin Kirkman received the award on the night on behalf of the IGI and praised the education arm as, “academic awards within the golf industry are hard to come by, the education programs delivered to students and members is of utmost importance to the PGA and it’s certainly an area that we are looking to expand moving forward.” Kirkman also added that, “This award also goes to show that the quality of the programs and pathways offered to PGA members is world class, we continually look to set the benchmark in the industry to provide learning opportunities for students aspiring to join the PGA and PGA members alike”
