The PGA Institute together with the PGA Academy offers students the opportunity to study golf in Melbourne undertaking SIS30421 Certificate III in Sport- Athlete in conjunction with The Golf Development Program. Our unique program offers students the chance to learn the best practice and skills for use within the sport of golf whilst gaining a Nationally recognised qualification.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Assessment for the qualification SIS30421 Certificate III in Sport are a combination of individual written short answer questions, reports, quizzes and observation activities.

  • Course Duration: One Year (52 weeks, includes up to 12 weeks of holiday)

Study Pathways

Pathways allow for a staged approach to achieving career goals in the golf industry.
This might include undertaking the Diploma of Golf Management, which provides the skills and knowledge needed to transition into an Advanced Diploma level study, a Bachelor degree, or other higher education course.

PGA PATHWAYS

Successful graduates of the Golf Development Program and SIS30421 Certificate III in Sport may be able to access PGA pathways into the PGA Member Pathway Program.

These pathways are available for those who wish to turn their passion for golf into a career as a Full Vocational Member of the PGA of Australia (PGA Professional) Study in the PGA Member Pathway Program is a combination of employment, on the job training, face to face training schools (delivered off site) and online learning delivered in the student’s workplace. In addition, students will ensure they retain a professional playing standard through entry in regular PGA Associate tournaments. All students wishing to enter either program must meet the program entry requirements.

Both study programs involve non-accredited and accredited training. All program information, including qualifications of study, student entry requirements and more are outlined on pga.org.au/education.

Upon successful completion of all program requirements, the Membership Pathway Program leads to Full Membership (Vocational) of the PGA, translating an individual’s passion for the sport into a wide variety of career opportunities in
the golf industry. Study in the PGA Membership Pathway Program is a combination of employment, on the job training, face to face training schools and online learning.

Entry Requirements

All students studying the SIS30421 – Certificate III In Sport Athlete and PGA Golf Development Program must meet the following entry requirements:

Domestic Students

  • Be aged 18 years of age or older at the conclusion of the year of application
  • Completion of Australian Year 12 (equivalent) or higher education qualification; or successfully complete LLN Assessment Test with PGA at required entry level
  • Have a World Handicap System (WHS) playing handicap of 12 (Male) and 15 (Female)

International Students

  • Be 18 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Minimum IELTS overall band score 5.5 or equivalent English Language Proficiency Level
  • Be eligible for an Australian Student Visa (Subclass 500)
  • Have a World Handicap System (WHS) playing handicap of 12 (Male) and 15 (Female)
