PGA IGI Celebrates Class of 2017

Thursday 7th December was a day of celebration at PGA IGI as we saw off the graduating class of 2017, who completed the 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management at our Gold Coast Campus.

After one year of study with the PGA International Golf Institute (PGA IGI), the students graduate with this nationally accredited qualification, the only of its kind anywhere in Australia.

Held at the Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club, students were joined by family, friends and loved ones in celebrating their achievements with the PGA IGI.

“It was a great day celebrating the achievements of our students in 2017,” explained Christine Straw, PGA IGI Senior Manager.

PGA IGI graduate and PGA Professional, Michelle Pericic, was our guest speaker for 2017. Pericic spoke to the students about the opportunities and career paths that lie ahead for them in to the future. She spoke of the paths she took post graduation, which lead to her moving her life to China and becoming a successful golf coach in Hangzhou and Shanghai for over 2 years.

“The PGA IGI Diploma of Golf Management is industry recognised, and with support of industry professionals has seen graduates move in to management roles in Australia and over the world,” continued Straw.

“We look forward to following the careers of our graduates over the years to come, like Michelle following her graduation 5 years earlier, as they move in to various positions across the diverse golfing industry.”

Nicholas Bond was awarded the prestigious Dean’s Honour Award for 2017. The Dean’s Honour Award is awarded to the student who has consistently excelled in academic work, shown great effort in improving their golf game and has created a positive impression on his coaches, teachers and fellow peers.

Other student achievement awards handed out at our 2017 Graduation Ceremony were:

– Jamie Bashforth – Academic Excellence Award
– Keith Lim – Academic Excellence Award
– Margarita Zakareyschvili – Golf Achievement Award

Graduates of the PGA IGI in 2017 now take their next steps toward a career in golf. Graduates are utilising pathways to university studying a Bachelor Degree at Griffith University, whilst others have been accepted to enter year 2 of the PGA Trainee Program.
