YTD: O’Brien and Xu take Ladies’ Honours

In term 2 this year, the PGA IGI Club Championships were held at the Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club. After two rounds in testing conditions, it was Jordan O’Brien who came out on top as our first Ladies Club Champion for 2017.

Jordan was consistent in her scoring over the club championship, finishing with a total of 154 over the two rounds. She finished two shots ahead of Jenny Kim to capture the first Club Championship for the year.

The Club Championship (Nett Division) for the females was captured by Rebecca Xu. Playing off a handicap of 10, Rebecca commenced her club championships with a first round score of nett 76. Rebecca played a fantastic round two finishing off the club championship with a nett score of 68, to win the nett division by two shots.

Both Jordan and Rebecca commenced their studies with the PGA International Golf Institute in July 2016. Jordan is a local Gold Coast golfer, while Rebecca moved from her home town of Wuhan, China, to commence in the PGA IGI Diploma of Golf Management.

Having now graduated from the 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management with PGA IGI, Jordan and Rebecca are now studying a Bachelor of Business (majoring in Sport Management) at Griffith University. Both girls have utilised the one year credit PGA IGI Students receive from the qualification, taking one year of study off their Bachelor Degrees with Griffith University.

With the girls having graduated from PGA IGI, who will come out on top when the second edition of the Club Championships is held for 2017 in October? Stay posted to see the results later this year.
