Students hit the ground running in 2017

Monday 20th February saw new students from Australia and around the world begin their 2017 studies with the PGA International Golf Institute (PGA IGI) in Australia’s only Diploma of Golf Management.

Undertaking their study through on campus learning on the wonderful Gold Coast, students will spend the next 12 months studying the nationally recognised qualification, 10459NAT Diploma of Golf Management. Learning will comprise of academics in the business and management of the golf industry, combined with practical golf competitions and golf training.

“It is always an exciting time seeing fresh faces at the PGA IGI, as students begin their journey following their passion for golf,” explained Mrs Christine Straw, PGA IGI Senior Manager.

“We are delighted to welcome students from Australia and throughout the world,”

“In 2017, we have students joining us from Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, and for the first time from India and Russia.”

The first week of class saw students on the golf course, in the classroom and undertaking initial physical screening sessions before commencing their conditioning for golf program.

Commencing students have joined continuing students in the Diploma of Golf Management program, who began their studies in the July 2016 intake.

Across the year students will learn from industry professionals, undertake site tours of golf facilities and learn valuable skills to implement towards a career in golf. They will also play weekly IGI golf competitions with all students and receive year round access to Sanctuary Cove – The Palms Course.

“We look forward to working with all our students throughout the year and to see them successfully graduate with their Diploma of Golf Management at the end of 2017”, said Straw.

PGA IGI has three remaining intakes for 2017 for new students to enter the Diploma of Golf Management. Students can apply to commence in April, July or October in 2017.
