Bovornratanaraks takes three shot lead in to final round

Thailand student Bovorn Bovornratanaraks has opened the second edition of the PGA IGI Club Championships in 2017 with a first round 71 (1 over par) on the Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club.

It was a tough day on course for many of the students with the windy and blustery conditions playing havoc. The threatening afternoon storms stayed away, with Bovorn handling the conditions the best and taking a three shot lead in to the final round.

Bovorn’s strong performance was highlighted by his eagle finish on the par 5 18th on the Palms Course. Chasing Bovorn are two local students Tyla Vinter (4 over, 74) and defending club champion Zachary Ion (5 over, 75).

Both Bovorn and Tyla are in the top three in the Nett Club Championships as well, with scores of nett 68 and 70 respectively. The leader board is tight, with Sung Beom (Allan) Park from Korea splitting both Bovorn and Tyla to hold second place with a nett score of 69. This is one of Allan’s best performances for 2017, showcasing his improved performance across the year.

It was a challenging day for the girls on course during Monday’s round. Leading the Ladies Club Championships is Margarita Zakareyshvili from Russia, currently holding a four shot lead over her nearest rival.

The second and final round is scheduled for Monday 13th November on the Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club.
