Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club - The Palms Golf Course

Students studying at the PGA International Golf Institute, receive golf course access membership to Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club – The Palms Course, as part of the study. Reopened in April 2011, The Palms Golf Course was redesigned by renowned golf course architect Ross Watson. The Palms has been designed to suit a variety of playing conditions and a diverse range of players. Nestled within century old Cabbage Palms, The Palms Golf Course offers a course management test for the player’s game, with waterways, bunker hazards and contoured greens creating a true test for the golfer.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club also offers golfers access to practice and fitness facilities for PGA IGI golfers. The Palms Driving Range, practice putting and chipping greens compliment The Palms Golf Course, allowing students to put their practice to hard work before hitting the golf course.

Students studying with the PGA International Golf Institute are responsible for sourcing their own accommodation whilst studying at our Gold Coast Campus. There are many easy to access suburbs on the Gold Coast, all within suitable distance between the PGA IGI Campus at Sanctuary Cove, and Griffith University at Southport.

Private Accommodation

There is an abundance of rental opportunities on the Gold Coast, in either shared apartments or fully furnished units. Rooms are available for rent in shared apartments and houses from $160 per week and above, higher for fully furnished properties. You can choose an area and region of the Gold Coast to best suit your budget and Gold Coast living experience.

Homestay is an accommodation option undertaken by some International Students. This provides you with the opportunity to live with Australian families, and can be a wonderful opportunity to experiencing life living with an Australian family. Some Homestay do provide transport options with their stays. Our Homestay is provided by Study in Australia or through Griffith University.

Disclaimer: The Homestay provider referred to above is not owned or operated by the PGA IGI. They are provided for your convenience only. Any arrangements, financial or otherwise, are strictly between you and the Homestay provider. If you are unhappy with your Homestay family, please notify the PGA IGI office immediately.

Student Built Accommodation

There are 4 student built accommodation complexes close to Griffith University at Southport, about a 20-minute drive by car from Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club. These are privately owned and operated, occupied by a diverse range of students studying at Griffith University.

Students are responsible for providing their own transport to and from classes, along with to golf training sessions and competitions. The PGA IGI does not offer transport services as part of their study fees. We recommend the easiest way to access the Gold Coast Campus is by student’s own transport of a car, whilst studying with the PGA IGI.
Transport options whilst studying at the Gold Coast Campus are:

  • Private Car – Most recommended option for students. Allows students the best access to multiple facilities used by the PGA IGI during their study
  • Car Pool – Share cost with another PGA IGI Student
  • Homestay – Some homestay providers offer transport services
  • Public Transport – Gold Coast offers multiple public transport options with buses and the new light-rail system. However, public transport to golf course facilities is limited and with early tee time starts, can be unsuitable for some students
  • Taxi – Suitable only if living close by to Gold Coast Campus and its facilities.

The PGA IGI can also arrange airport transfers and pick-ups for new students arriving to Australia (additional cost). Ask the PGA IGI team about an airport transfer and pick up during your enrolment process.
