Gold Coast Campus

The PGA IGI Gold Coast Campus is located at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club. We are located approximately 25 minutes to the CBD of the Gold Coast. Three of the four major theme parks, Dream world, Movie World and Wet and Wild are situated in the area, along with many restaurants and shopping centres. Sanctuary Cove is an experience of life, were boating, golfing, shopping, bars restaurants, bars, surrounded by two of the Gold Coast’s best golf courses, the Palms and the Pines. 

The campus is located in the Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club, the PGA IGI offices and state of the art classrooms. There is a café, gym and golf practice facilities all within a two-minute walk. The campus is surrounded by the Palms Golf course providing a tranquil environment for our students.

Golf Courses

Students studying at the PGA International Golf Institute, receive golf course access membership to Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club when studying the 10810NAT Diploma of Golf Management – The Palms Course, as part of the study. Reopened in April 2011, The Palms Golf Course was redesigned by renowned golf course architect Ross Watson. The Palms has been designed to suit a variety of playing conditions and a diverse range of players. Nestled within century old Cabbage Palms, The Palms Golf Course offers a course management test for the player’s game, with waterways, bunker hazards and contoured greens creating a true test for the golfer.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club also offers golfers access to practice and fitness facilities for PGA IGI golfers. The Palms Driving Range, practice putting and chipping greens compliment The Palms Golf Course, allowing students to put their practice to hard work before hitting the golf course.

Aaron Muirhead
Aaron Muirhead

General Manager at Oxley Golf Club.

Wide experience of 10 years as general manager of a range of golf courses gives Aaron a insight in the various club structures,  capital  projects  along with day to day club life .    Adding to this experience Aaron has lead the operation of nine venues comprising of eight taverns, one golf club and 20 bottle shops. Responsible for the full P&L performance, food and beverage, retail sales, accommodation and gaming.

Broc Greenhalgh is the State Manager of the PGA Australia (QLD Division) and is also a PGA Professional. After moving from Western Australia in 2001, he completed his PGA Traineeship at Coolangatta Tweed Heads Golf Club. Now with experience as both a teaching and tournament professional, as well as a Tournament Coordinator for the QLD PGA, Broc shares his experience and knowledge over a range of topics including event sponsorship, tournament operations and maintaining sponsorship relationships.

Cameron O’Hara is currently the Manager of the Aus.PGA Championship, PGA of Australia. Having worked for the PGA of Australia for three years, Cameron has fulfilled the roles of State Mgr WA/NT and PGA Championship BDM prior to his current position. A former graduate of the PGA IGI program and Griffith University (B.Bus), Cameron was previously the CEO of Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds and is a member of the Australian Institute of Manager (FAIM). Cameron delivers lectures on Event Tourism and Event Commercial subject areas.

Mike Orloff

As a specialist providing golf operations and marketing solutions, I help all levels of golf facilities and golf-related businesses grow their revenues and bottom line. I also help international golf-related companies access the Australian market.

A current US and Australian PGA Member, I have marketed and managed golf courses throughout Australia since the year 2000 and in the USA for various levels of facilities from two to five stars.

In 2008 I launched Golf Industry Central as the leading news and information resource for the golf industry in Australasia. We also help grow the game of golf through better marketing for clubs and golf businesses.

Our Virtual Marketing Assistant service provides cost-effective marketing advice and support for golf-related businesses.

We also offer a Job Ad Membership (JAM) as a cost-effective annual service for promoting all your golf-facility job vacancies to the largest golf industry job-seeker database in the Australasian region.

Darryl Edwards

43 year Professional in the Turf & Golf Course Industry. Superintendent, Course Construction, Project Management & Club Management. Has had experience working in 6 Countries.

Darryl is able to bring his wealth of experience in the industry and takes students through the many aspects of presenting and building world class golf courses.  He has been Chief superintendent during his career and many 5 star facilities including Sanctuary Cove Country Club, Blue Canyon Country Club, Hyatt Coolum and Burleigh Golf Club.

Michael Jones

Sanctuary Cove’s Head Teaching Professional Michael Jones is a product of a more modern day approach to Golf teaching and has achieved remarkable results with many of his students. Michael has students of all levels, from beginners to Tour Professionals. Michael coaches professionals Matthew Millar and Brad Kennedy, a time winner on the Japan Tour. Michael’s teaching philosophy is to treat all students as individuals therefore not one swing method for all students.

As a Certified PGA of Australia Member (Advanced—Coaching), Michael Jones has all the attributes to assist members, juniors or Touring professional. Michael has a strong background in fitness and athlete training, and also provides gym training sessions for golfer for our IGI Gold Coast Campus student.

Since 1993, Michael Jones has spent many years playing on various professional tours and coaching around the world. This international experience has seen Michael become fluent in the Japanese Language.

Jamie Brew PGA IGI
Jamie Brew

Jamie Brew is your PGA IGI Golf Programs Manager, and your point of call for all things golf during your time studying with the PGA international Golf Institute. As a Certified PGA of Australia Member (Advanced—Coaching), Jamie has been a full vocational member of the PGA of Australia since 1996. With over 15 years experience as Head Professional at Inverell and Burleigh Golf Clubs, Jamie has been involved in coaching golfers of all levels, from beginners to elite amateurs.

During your time with PGA IGI, Jamie will conduct a number of regular sessions, including mentoring, golf workshops and Trackman Testing, all aimed at improving the students success on and off the golf course.

Accommodation & Transport

Students studying with the PGA International Golf Institute are responsible for sourcing their own accommodation whilst studying at our Gold Coast Campus. There are many easy to access suburbs on the Gold Coast, all within suitable distance between the PGA IGI Campus at Sanctuary Cove, and Griffith University at Southport.

Private Accommodation

There is an abundance of rental opportunities on the Gold Coast, in either shared apartments or fully furnished units. Rooms are available for rent in shared apartments and houses from $160 per week and above, higher for fully furnished properties. You can choose an area and region of the Gold Coast to best suit your budget and Gold Coast living experience.


Homestay is an accommodation option undertaken by some International Students. This provides you with the opportunity to live with Australian families, and can be a wonderful opportunity to experiencing life living with an Australian family. Some Homestay do provide transport options with their stays. Our Homestay is provided by Study in Australia or through Griffith University.

Shared accommodation is a popular option for students as it can be more flexible and affordable than renting by themselves.

Renting a whole property can be more expensive than sharing, and the lease would be in the students name and they would be responsible for the upkeep of the property. Students can live alone, or may rent out rooms to other students, depending on the landlord.

Students are responsible for providing their own transport to and from classes, along with to golf training sessions and competitions. The PGA IGI does not offer transport services as part of their study fees. We recommend the easiest way to access the Gold Coast Campus is by student’s own transport of a car, whilst studying with the PGA IGI.
Transport options whilst studying at the Gold Coast Campus are:

  • Private Car – Most recommended option for students. Allows students the best access to multiple facilities used by the PGA IGI during their study
  • Car Pool – Share cost with another PGA IGI Student
  • Homestay – Some homestay providers offer transport services
  • Public Transport – Gold Coast offers multiple transport options with buses, heavy rail and light rail systems. Public transport is limited so please check Translink’s journey planner when choosing accommodation.
    Domestic and international students can apply to receive a 50% concession on fares.
  • Taxi – Suitable only if living close by to Gold Coast Campus and its facilities.

The PGA IGI can also arrange airport transfers and pick-ups for new students arriving to Australia (additional cost). Ask the PGA IGI team about an airport transfer and pick up during your enrolment process.

Higher Education Pathway

PGA IGI students articulating to a Bachelor Degree can choose Griffith University or Southern Cross University. Both have Gold Coast campuses.

Gold Coast Students

Griffith University (CRICOS Provider – 00233E) is regarded as one of Australia’s most innovative tertiary institutions and one of the most influential universities in the Asia-Pacific region.
Opening its doors in 1975, Griffith University has grown to be a large multi-campus institution. With five campus locations between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, it is home to more than 43,000 students from 131 countries. With its internationally recognised strengths in teaching and research, Griffith University is the ninth largest higher education provider in Australia.
PGA IGI students articulating to study a Bachelor Degree with Griffith University, on most occasions choose to study at the Gold Coast Campus. Students can however choose to study at any of Griffith University’s 5 campus locations, should the articulated Bachelor Degree be offered at those campus locations.
Three Bachelor Degrees are offered to PGA IGI Students through articulation pathways with Griffith University, where by students receive up to one year equivalent credit (up to 80 CP) into the following articulated degrees:

  • Bachelor of Business (majoring in Sport Management)
  • Bachelor of Business (majoring in Event Management)
  • Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management

Southern Cross University is a multi-campus university on Australia’s east coast. They are proud of their reputation as a progressive institution, engaging with the communities they serve to create change that has an impact around the world.

Their campuses are located in southeast Queensland adjacent to the Gold Coast Airport, in New South Wales at Lismore and in Coffs Harbour, where the University’s National Marine Science Centre is also located. Branch campuses in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth operate in collaboration with EduCo and the University operates The Hotel School Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in partnership with Mulpha Australia.

Seven Bachelor Degrees are offered to PGA IGI Students through articulation pathways with Southern Cross University, where by students receive up to one-year equivalent credit when a student has successfully completed the 10810NAT Diploma of golf Management into the following articulated degrees

Six Bachelor Degrees are offered to PGA IGI Students through articulation pathways with Southern Cross University, where by students receive up to 50% equivalent credit when a student has successfully completed the BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management into the following articulated degrees
