PGA IGI 's New Diploma of Golf Management

The PGA IGI has recently developed and had accredited a new Diploma program. The newly accredited program ‘The Diploma of Golf Management  30792QLD’ has been developed by the PGA IGI to meet the current needs of the Golfing Industry marketplace.

Packaging to gain the qualification

The Diploma of Golf Management will comprise both core and elective units of competency.

  • Core:   14  units of Competency 
  • Electives: 8 units of Competency

There are 22 Units of competency in total, the number of elective units undertaken will depend on the study mode. The required practicum hours for the fulltime and articulated program are no less than 200 hours (no practicum hours are required for  the distance learning mode).  To be awarded the Diploma of Golf Management program participants will be required to successfully complete all core units and the required number of elective units of competency for the mode of study selected.

The course aims to develop the generic skills indicated below using material that is relevant to the study of Golf Management

Graduate Generic Skills

  • Effective  communication (written) – conducting research to collect and analyse information in a range of reports.
  • Effective communication (oral)- Public speaking / group presentations.
  • Effective communication (interpersonal)- Liaising with others to develop a range of plans and reports. 
  • Learning- assisting others to acquire new knowledge and skills to improve team and individual performance.
  • Problem solving – assessing financial viability of new opportunities and matching organisational capability with market needs.
  • Initiative and enterprise- encouraging creative and innovative workplace solutions.
  • Self management- managing own time and priorities and dealing with contingencies. 
  • Teamwork- contributing to the development of other team members.
  • Creativity and innovation – identify new and emerging opportunities for business and develop strategies tnd capitalise on them.
  • Planning and Organising- developing systems that are flexible and responsive to changing circumstances. 
  • Technology- using electronic communication devises and using Technology to assist the management of information.

 

Professional Skills

All  Diploma program graduaties willl acquire a high level of knowledge and understanding in the context of the Golf Environment in respect to:

  • The relationships and networks of corporate, non-government and governmental organisations.
  • The distinctive systems of management, operations, marketing and finance.
  • The various stakeholders perspectives.
  • The customer perceptions of service.
  • The need for sustainability and diversification.
  • The cultural and social responsibilities for the broader business of golf
  • The requirement for strategic thinking.
  • The importance of environmental issues in golf course construction and operations.
