Career Orientated Participation in Sport (Elite Golf)

Cert III in Sport Career Orientated Participation (SIS30613) prepares you for a career in the game of golf. Our goal is to impart knowledge, prowess and experience of the PGA of Australia’s world class golf coaches and provide you with an experience of elite golf training.

Throughout their study students receive golf coaching with Certified PGA of Australia Professionals, via Group Lessons and Individual Lessons. Students work through their individualised training programs for game development on the golf course, combined with off-course training in physical fitness and mental development.

This one-year program is delivered at our Gold Coast Campus, located at Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club. Academic content is included in the study program through supervised learning, focused on the needs of a professional athlete, such as liaising with the media and tournament preparation.

International students are eligible to study this golf study program in Australia under a student education visa, should all entry requirements be met.
Course Duration: 40 teaching weeks in total with up to 6 weeks of holiday periods.

ELITE GOLF TRAINING

Certificate III in Sport Career Orientated Participation program has a strong focus on elite golf training. The program offers golf training for students over a 40-week program.

Golf coaching is delivered in both group lessons and private sessions with PGA Professionals using the latest golf technology. Practical golf training undertaken during your study encompasses multiple skill areas for game improvement:

  • Golf Course Access Membership at Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club – The Palms Course
  • Up to 7 hours per week of coaching with Golf Coach and Consultants (individual and group lessons)
  • Access to IGI Golf Competitions

International students can study the Certificate III program for one year, enabling students to study in Australia and focus on the game of golf.

YOUR HOME GOLF COURSE

The Certificate III in Sport Career Orientated Participation is delivered each year at the PGA IGI Gold Coast Campus. As part of the program, students receive access to one of the Gold Coast’s premier golfing destinations at Sanctuary Golf and Country Club.

Students receive a golf course access membership to the Palms Course at Sanctuary Cove. Redesigned by Ross Watson in 2011, the Palms Course is nestled in century old cabbage palms, with distinctive holes, deep greenside bunkers and countered greens that require creative shot making and strong course management.

Sanctuary Cove – The Palms Course offers a challenge to players of all abilities.

Practice facilities at Sanctuary Cove offer golfers access to developing all areas of their golf game. Students will receive unlimited access to the Palms Driving Range equipped with grass and mat hitting bays. You will also have access to the practice putting green and chipping green throughout your study period, students also have full access to gym facilities at the Sanctuary Cove Rec Club.

HOW TO APPLY

Intakes are now closed for the Cert III in Career Orientated Participation in Sports program. Students must meet entry requirements when applying for the program.
Entry requirements to study the Cert III in Sport Career Orientated Participation are:

  • 18 years of age and older
  • IELTS overall band score 5.5 higher (International Students only) or equivalent
  • Maximum GA golf handicap – 12

Students must include certified documentation when applying for the PGA IGI. Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer for study into the Cert III program and will be advised of their upcoming intake date.
